It appears a detour around a south Forsyth crossing will remain in effect until at least Nov. 2.

According to a report from the state Department of Transportation, crews are still working to rebuild the intersection of Brookwood and Caney roads.

Recent rains have slowed process on the project, which will raise the grade of Caney about 5 feet to improve sight distance. Caney also will be straightened, according to the report.

About 500 feet of Caney at Brookwood will be closed, and paving is expected to begin Monday.

The detour route uses Caney west to Old Alpharetta Road, and from there to Hwy. 141.

Once the intersection is finished, work will shift to the Hwy. 141-Brookwood crossing.

That effort will require a partial closure and detour as well.

The 6.5-mile long construction project, which is 73 percent complete, is part of a $50 million makeover of Hwy. 141 into a four-lane divided highway from McGinnis Ferry Road to Hwy. 9.
