Here are 3 things Forsyth County Planning Commission recommended for approval

The Forsyth County Planning Commission held their monthly meeting last week, where among other issues, they heard plans for a new RaceTrac in north Forsyth, a short-term rental and the county’s first farm winery.

New RaceTrac planned on Browns Bridge Road

What: A request for a conditional-use permit for a new 5,411-square-foot RaceTrac gas station with 31 parking spaces on 3.4 acres.

Where: At the intersection of Browns Bridge Road and Bridgetowne Drive, immediately southeast of 3560 Browns Bridge Road and across from Walmart.

Comments: Members of the planning board had questions about whether the store would be impacted by improvements at the roadway, and zoning attorney Christopher Light said the company wanted to start construction with the road and were in favor of a planned traffic light at the intersection.

Status: Recommended for approval with conditions.


First short-term rental request

What: A request for a conditional-use permit to operate a 1,520-square-foot short-term rental for four guests with three parking spaces. The request would likely be the first short-term rental to operate under county rules that went into effect at the beginning of the year.

Where: 450 Fowler Road.

Comments: The owner of the property said the house is located on a horse farm and is currently being used for a long-term rental with plans to switch to short-term in four months.

Status: Recommended approval with conditions.


County’s first winery clears hurdle

What: A 1,538 square-foot farm winery, the first in the county, with 20 parking spaces on about seven acres.

Where: 1480 and 1506 Stoney Point Road and north of the intersection of Stoney Point and Woodcreek Drive.

Comments: The property owner said the facility would allow the family to sell their wine, hold wine tastings and host events on the farm.

Status: Recommended approval with conditions.
