Forsyth County could expect up to an inch of snow Saturday morning, according to the National Weather Service.

A winter weather advisory has been issued for much of North Georgia including Forsyth County. The advisory will be in effect 4 a.m. until 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 8, for areas generally north of Interstate 20 and east of Interstate 85.

“What we’re expecting to happen is temperatures will get down right at freezing or even just below it, especially in some of the higher elevations, around that area,” according to the National Weather Service forecaster regarding weather around sunrise Saturday.

Precipitation will start to move into the Forsyth County area around sunrise, which may start as rain and is expected to “potentially very quickly transition over to snow.”

Snow fall could transition back to rain by the afternoon as temperatures warm, but temperatures are expected to drop below freezing again Saturday night, making black ice possible Sunday morning.
