Hi. I am a long-time subscriber to your paper and enjoy it’s mostly local content. I am writing to strongly disagree with the Feb. 20, 2019 front page regarding a transgender student. 

The topic of transgender is a highly-controversial topic. And, in a county that is traditionally conservative and traditional in thinking, it was a great error in judgement to put such an article in the paper, especially with a picture on the front page. 

I am saddened as to what is happening to our country and society regarding sinful and wrong lifestyles, and find it unfortunate that I cannot escape it even in my hometown newspaper. I am very much hoping that this is not the beginning of a trend of turning such a good local newspaper into a medium of controversy and publication of opinions held by a very small minority.
