SPLOST still a slush fund

Forsyth County News

Several other county’s easily passed a SPLOST amendment, but Forsyth County had more opposition. Why? Because the money was to be used on non-critical projects during tough financial times.

So the temporary SPLOST sales tax now number  1,2,3,4,5 or 6 or 7 or 8  continues. SPLOST has become the county’s slush fund for projects our leaders are afraid to individually present to the voters for approval.

Once our county leaders decide they need something, it will be done either through SPLOST or property tax increases.

To see our tax money in action, swing by the new aquatic center on Pilgrim Mill Road and count the cars in the parking lot.
