Forsyth County Drug Summit to be held on Tuesday

The City of Monroe Police Department is investigating a possible connection between the death of a 28-year-old Cumming man who was reportedly dropped off at a hospital in Walton County early Saturday morning and four Forsyth County overdoses that left two dead in less than 30 hours Sunday and Monday.

Around 1:30 a.m. April 22, a man and a woman brought Jeffery Kim Wilson, who was unconscious at the time, to the Clearview Regional Medical Center in Monroe, where medical staff later pronounced him dead, according to a social media post by the city’s police department.

“At this time, we cannot rule out that Wilson’s death and the recent deaths in Forsyth County are not in some way related. We will be working with several other agencies to answer the many questions surrounding Wilson’s death," Monroe Police Chief Keith Glass told the Forsyth County News in a statement Tuesday.

The Walton Tribune first reported on Wilson’s death shortly after the post was written.

Hospital staff reportedly told officers that Wilson had been dropped off by a male driving a 1990s red Ford F-150 accompanied by a female passenger, who left the area “once Wilson was removed from the truck by medical staff,” then post said.

While the police initially asked for help contacting the driver, the department later said they had found him.

Wilson's body was later released to the Walton County Coroner’s Office, where an autopsy is pending as of Tuesday.

“We are actively investigating Mr. Wilson’s death,” Glass said. “His autopsy is scheduled for today [and] it should provide more information and direction in this case.”

The Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office had no additional information as of Tuesday afternoon.
