Dawson County at Forsyth Central

When, where: Friday, 7:30 pm, Bulldog Stadium in Cumming.

Records, rankings: Central is 0-0 and unranked in Class AAAAA; Dawson County is 0-0 and unranked in Class AAA.

Series history: Central leads 6-5.

Last meeting: Dawson County won 23-20 on Sept. 13, 2013.

What to know: Dawson County returns seven starters on both offense and defense and no longer must contend with Buford, White County and North Hall in Region 7-AAA. The Tigers have been in playoff contention each of the last three seasons under Jeff Lee, now in his 12th season. Quarterback Zach Buchan (Sr., 6-2, 180) leads the Tigers’ Hybrid Wing-T offense. "[Buchan] is their best player. He reads the field so well," Central coach Shane Williamson said. "He’s got great timing with two quality receivers [Hunter Mitchell and Dalton Edwards]."

As of Tuesday, junior Trey Abercrombie had won the starting nod at quarterback with his performance in Central’s Aug. 15 scrimmage at North. "He earned that right—as of now," Williamson said. Williamson added that the Tigers use multiple fronts defensively that could provide a challenge to Central’s blocking schemes.
