When, where: Friday, 7:30 p.m., at Hoskyn Stadium in Sandy Springs.
Records, rankings: Central is 2-2, 0-1 in Region 7-AAAAA, Div. B and unranked in Class AAAAA; Riverwood is 3-1, 1-0 and unranked.
Series history: Central leads 4-1.
Last meeting: Central won 41-13 in 2014.
What to know: You’ve heard coach speak before. There are no moral victories.
But if you looked at the reactions from Central folks after nearly upsetting top-10 ranked Kell last Friday, you’d know that the Bulldogs, at .500, are feeling good again following a devastating loss the week before at home against Cass.
Riverwood is coming off a 40-3 win over North Atlanta, but played down in class for the first two wins of the season. The Raiders are in their second season under Ben Stready, who led the team to a 5-5 mark last year.
Marvin Kinsey Jr. will lead the Raiders’ offense. The senior tailback has 549 rushing yards on 61 carries (9 ypc) and six touchdowns, helping Riverwood to an average of 191 yards on the ground per game. Central will attempt to counter that attack with Sabrian Howard and quarterback Jagger Hartshorn. The Bulldogs could be without their other leading rusher in Shaun Diebel, who left last week’s game with an injury.
