Forsyth Central at Woodland-Cartersville

When, where: Friday, 7:30 p.m. at Wildcat Stadium in Cartersville.

Records, rankings: Central is 3-6, 1-5 in Region 7-AAAAA, Div. B and unranked; Woodland is 1-8, 1-5 and unranked.

Series history: Tied 2-2.

Last meeting: Central won 39-7 in 2015.

What to know: Central will enter its final game of the season without its starting quarterback. Jagger Hartshorn, the junior who started the first nine games of the year, has moved back to his home state of Pennsylvania. That will leave either Aubrey Blackmon or Trey Abercrombie, who started for the Bulldogs last season, to fill the void. The good news is the Bulldogs have Sabrian Howard and Shaun Diebel churning out yards of late. Howard has reached 594 rushing yards on the year while Diebel, who missed a game earlier in the season, has 414. They have combined for twelve touchdowns, but Hartshorn had seven of his own.

Central defeated Woodland 39-7 on September 4th to improve to 2-0. Since then the year has been a tale of ups and downs—a blowout loss to Cass, a near-upset of then-ranked Kell, a disastrous collapse against North Atlanta and a chance to catch their breath against North Springs—but the Bulldogs will have taken a step back, no matter Friday’s result, from a 6-4 finish last season.

With Blackmon and Abercrombie both graduating seniors, Central might have an early try at a quarterback for the future in the contest.
