A pair of Lambert senior baseball players could be teammates for a while longer.
Seniors Cooper McCann and Collin Price separately announced
their commitments to Mercer University this week on Twitter. McCann announced
his late Monday afternoon, while Price announced his Tuesday morning.
Both were key starters on Lambert’s region championship team that advanced to the second round of the Class 7A state playoffs. McCann played third base and hit .253 (23-for-91) with three doubles, a home run and 13 RBI. Price played catcher and hit .228 (23-for-101) with seven doubles, three home runs and 16 RBI.
They would join former Lambert standout Zach Graveno who was named a Collegiate Baseball Freshman All-American for the Bears last season as a relief pitcher.
Just a few hours after McCann announced his commitment Monday, Longhorns senior Carter Ballstadt also announced his commitment to Piedmont College. Ballstadt appeared in 12 games for Lambert last season and hit .313 (5-for-16). He would join his older brother, Brady, who was a first-team All-Conference selection for the Lions last season.
