Mill Creek at Lambert

When, where: Wednesday, 4 and 6 p.m.; Thursday, 5:30 p.m. (if necessary) at Lambert High School in Suwanee.

Records, rankings, seedings: Mill Creek is 18-8 overall, the No. 3 seed from Region 7-AAAAAA and ranked No. 10 in Class AAAAAA; Lambert is 15-10, the No. 2 seed from Region 6 and unranked.

What to know: Don’t let the record fool you. Despite the fact Mill Creek has less than double-digit wins in league play and an underwhelming overall record, the Lady Hawks boast a top 10 ranking in the state and are tabbed as a top-60 program, according to MaxPreps.com, in the entire country. Former Collins Hill baseball coach Paul Pierce is in his first year as the Mill Creek skipper, and already has softball titles with Collins Hill from 2011 and 2013.

Lambert has Delaware commit Kassidy Krupit as its top option at pitcher, but also boasts depth. Catie Rose Hays pitched a no-hitter on Sept. 24 against Centennial for the Lady Longhorns. Marissa Guimbarda gives Lambert power at the plate. Zoe Miller, a crafty infielder, is back in full health after missing 10 days of activities early in the month because of a knee injury that required 12 stitches.

Who’s next: The winner will play the Westlake-Alcovy winner.
