Appalachian State senior offensive lineman Colby Gossett, a North Forsyth alum, earned a spot last week on the South team in the Reese's Senior Bowl, a game that draws the country's best college football players who have exhausted their eligibility.
Gossett had accepted an invitation to play in the East-West Shrine Game, an all-star game that took place on Saturday, but he accepted the Senior Bowl invitation last week. That game, which will be played in Mobile, Alabama on Jan. 27, produced 85 NFL Draft picks last year.
Gossett, a redshirt senior, started 13 games at right guard in 2017 for the Mountaineers, who went 9-4 and beat Toledo in the Dollar General Bowl. He was one of three Appalachian State offensive linemen named All-Sun Belt First Team on offense, the second straight year Gossett received that honor.
The Senior Bowl is set to start at 2:30 p.m. on Jan. 27 and will be broadcast on the NFL Network.
