North Forsyth alum and current Appalachian State senior offensive lineman Colby Gossett accepted an invitation to appear in the East-West Shrine Game, a college football showcase game that counts numerous NFL players among its alumni.
Gossett, who was named to the Sun Belt Preseason All-Conference First Team this season, has appeared in all 11 of the Mountaineers’ games this year. Appalachian State has rushed for the second-most yards per game in the conference and is first in yards per carry. The Mountaineers are tied for first in the Sun Belt at 6-1 in conference play and will close out the regular season on Saturday against Louisiana-Lafayette.
East-West Shrine Game participants often sign professional contracts after their college careers, and more than 100 from last year’s game did so. The game will take place at 3 p.m. on Jan. 20 in St. Petersburg, Florida and will be broadcast on the NFL Network.
