Forsyth County News

When, where: Today, 5 p.m. and 7 p.m., if necessary 6 p.m. Thursday at Brookwood.

Records, seedings: North is 15-11 and the No. 4 seed from Region 6-AAAAAA; Brookwood is 19-11 and the No. 1 seed from Region 8.

On North: Coach Bud Henderson decided rest might do his players some good following the region tournament. He gave the Lady Raiders three consecutive days off so they would be injury-free for the final leg of the season.

"If we can make routine plays and put the ball in play, we got as much chance as any," Henderson said. "We got our legs back under us and gotten over a couple of injuries, so they’re ready to go."

On Brookwood: Pitcher Amanda Ablan has peaked at the right time for the Lady Broncos. Ablan threw a no-hitter against Grayson on Oct. 3 and has gone the distance in seven of her last eight contests. Brookwood has also won 12 of its last 14 games.

"I know they have a pretty good pitcher," Henderson said. "She averages about 10 strikeouts a game. She’s thrown a no-hitter this year, but their record indicates that they’re not unbeatable."

What’s next: The winner plays the winner of Cherokee-Mill Creek.
