North Forsyth at Collins Hill

When, where: Wednesday, 4 and 6 p.m.; Thursday, 6 p.m. (if necessary) at Collins Hill High School in Suwanee.

Records, rankings, seedings: North Forsyth is 20-7, the No. 3 seed from Region 6-AAAAAA and unranked; Collins Hill is 19-10, the No. 2 seed from Region 7 and unranked.

What to know: Lance Sparrow leads the Lady Eagles, who have two state titles in 2011 and 2013. If trend follows, they should be a favorite this season. It’s been somewhat of a down year, with Collins Hill going 8-4 through region play, but they were still rewarded the No. 2 seed because of a head-to-head 2-0 record against Mill Creek, who played one more game in region play. Collins Hill had won nine of 10 games before falling to North Gwinnett in the region title game.

North had an up-and-down season, yet came out with 20 wins, less than 10 losses and the fact they still might not have reached their full potential. Sophomore Bella Caracciolo has been stellar at the plate this year, going 39 of 89 (.438) with 27 RBIs and a team-leading four home runs. Haley Simpson is hitting a .447 clip to lead the team. Morehead State commit Sarah King will lead the Lady Raiders on the mound. She is 9-5 in 20 appearances with an 2.06 ERA.

Who’s next: The winner will play the Lakeside (Dekalb)-East Coweta winner.
