What to know: Mill Creek won’t be afraid of Lambert’s unblemished record or lofty national rankings. The Hawks have faced formidable teams like Marist, Milton, North Gwinnett and Parkview. They’ve encountered elite players like North Gwinnett’s Tucker Baca (Arizona State) and Parkview’s Mac Marshall (LSU). They get by not with power hitting or pitching but with singles and doubles, led by Georgia verbal commitment and shortstop Logan Moseley, and consistent pitching, led by No. 1 starter Russell Klein. They showed the ability to make clutch plays in a surprise sweep of Roswell in the first round.
The Longhorns merely dominated Dacula in 15-3 and 16-3 mercy-rule victories to cruise in the first round. Dylan Biumi and JD Dutka were solid on the mound, while Tucker Maxwell had seven RBIs in the series. Lambert scored 31 runs on just 19 hits.
What’s next: The winner plays the Luella-East Coweta winner.
