Three county track and field athletes wrapped up their
performances at the New Balance Nationals Outdoor meet on Saturday at North
Carolina A&T University in Greensboro, N.C.
On Saturday, former Forsyth Central runner Calan Gizelbach competed in the 2,000-meter steeplechase, a race not contested at high school meets, and finished 22nd overall in 6:14.43. Gizelbach, who finished second in Class 7A at the state cross country meet in 2018 and won the 3200 at the state track and field meet in May, is set to run in college at the University of Dayton.
South Forsyth rising senior Madelynne Cadeau also competed on Saturday, finishing 12th overall in the Emerging Elite 2 Mile in 11:03.26. The time was a personal best for Cadeau in the event, which is slightly longer than the 3200. Cadeau also ran the mile on Friday, finishing 30th in 5:11.76.
Denmark’s Karthik Kochuparambil closed out the meet for county athletes on Sunday in the 800-meter Championship race, finishing 16th overall in 1:53.67, which was the third-best finish by a rising junior in the race. Kochuparambil, who finished second in Class 4A in both the 800 and 1600, also competed in the mile on Friday, finishing 22nd in 4:21.67.
