South Forsyth at Carrollton Last Chance

BOYS: Sophomores Matt Patterson, Trevor Kane and Luke Francis finished 1-2-3 in the Boys Class AAAAAA division as No. 2-ranked South won the team title by a wide margin on the state meet course. Patterson won in 17 minutes, 35.62 seconds. Kane (17:46.36) and Francis (17:53.33) followed close behind; Reed Vaughn (18:00.27, 5th place) and Zach Coleman (18:04.70, 7th) made it all five War Eagle runners in the top seven. Buford was the only other team with at least two runners in the top 10. South averaged 17:52 and finished with 18 points, ahead of second-place Buford (18:33 average, 79 points).

GIRLS: The No. 2-ranked Lady War Eagles tried to top their male counterparts, sweeping the top three spots, but they couldn’t get all five runners in the top seven. Nonetheless, South dominated in the Girls Class AAAAAA division, led by (who else?) Savannah Carnahan, the individual winner in 18:57.92. Kaylee DuPont finished second in 19:24 and Milicent Bergey finished third in 20:01. Emma Maisel finished seventh (21:07) and Savannah Ratcliff’s 21-minute, 14-second run earned her 11th place. The Lady War Eagles totaled 24 points and averaged 20:09, ahead of runners-up Westminster (44 points, 20:52 average).

Forsyth Central at Carrollton Last Chance

BOYS: Central, ranked No. 1 in Class AAAAA by ga.milesplit.com, placed three runners in the top ten and all five runners in the top 14 to win the Boys Class AAAAA division on Saturday. Cole Gizelbach (17:59.40) and Will Hasse (18:01.90) finished back-to-back in fifth and sixth, respectively, and Max Warner was ninth in 18:11.50. Wesley Bacastow (18:29.50) and Joseph Rank (19:00.60) also placed for the Bulldogs. Central averaged 18:20 as a team with a one-minute, one-second split; the Bulldogs totaled 40 points, beating out Athens Academy (73) and Jones County (75).

GIRLS: Bonnie McKinnon (21:56) turned in a sixth-place individual finish as the Lady Bulldogs came in fifth in the Girls Class AAAAA division. Ashley Malone was 22nd in 23:38.93, followed by Devyn Malenzak (25:06, 32nd), Ashley Sciandra (25:13, 34th) and MaKenzie Brumbelow (25:26.51). Central averaged 24:16.

North Forsyth at Carrollton Last Chance

BOYS: Anthony Verdirame again led the Raiders with a 19-minute, 12.48-second run, good for 44th. Tommy Scheyer (20:14, 71st), Kyle Murberger (21:06), Jarred Benvenuto (21:24.78) and David Knott (21:35.67) rounded out the top five for North, which averaged 20:42 with a split of 2:23.

GIRLS: The Lady Raiders finished fifth on Saturday in Carrollton, led by Caitlan Hulsebus (22:33, 22nd place), Gigi Fulkerson (22:58.63, 26th) and Nina Carter (23:06, 28th). Emily Nizialek (25:19, 51st) and Emily Bergman (26:37) also placed for North, which averaged 24:06.
