FCN hires David Almeda as sports reporter

The Forsyth County News has hired David Almeda as its newest sports reporter. Almeda replaces Ian Frazer, who was elevated to sports editor after Brian Paglia was named managing editor.

Almeda is a Georgia native, growing up in Lawrenceville and attending Mountain View High School. He graduated from Kennesaw State University in 2015 with a bachelor's degree in Communication, Journalism and Emerging Media. Almeda wrote for the Marietta Daily Journal and Gwinnett Daily Post before serving as the sports editor of the Thomasville Times-Enterprise starting in July 2016. He recently covered the Thomasville boys basketball team's Class AA state championship.

“I’m excited to be joining such a forward-thinking newsroom and returning to an area of the state that I’ve called home for 20-plus years,” Almeda said. “I look forward to telling stories not only of sports in the community, but of the people that surround them.”
