Horizon Christian at Creekside Christian
When, where: Friday, 5 p.m., at Pride Valley in McDonough.
Records: Horizon is 2-0 overall and 0-0 in GICAA II Region 1; Creekside is 1-0 overall and 0-0 in GICAA I Region I-AA.
Last meeting: Creekside won 44-0 in 2013.
What to know: After two consecutive blowout victories to start the season, Horizon might have its first real test of the season. Creekside opened its season last week with an emphatic 46-0 victory against Young American Christian, and it did about the same to Horizon two years ago in the teams’ last meeting, a 44-0 loss for Horizon.
But that Horizon team didn’t have quarterback Jacob Grinstead. This one does. That’s making a BIG difference for the Warriors. Through two games so far, the Horizon newcomer has passed for 436 yards and seven touchdowns, rushed for two more and elevated the play of the Warriors’ offense all around. One week he’s hooking up with wide receiver Ty Logan for multiple touchdowns, the next with Dillon Taylor. But Horizon is also getting it done on defense, too. Junior Daniel Durnwald had eight tackles and three interceptions against Augusta last week, while Logan had two interceptions and the Warriors also forced a fumble.
