Horizon Christian at Unity Christian

When, where: Friday, 7:30 p.m., at Shorter University in Rome.

Records, rankings: Horizon is 1-2; Unity is 1-1.

Series record: Unity leads 2-0.

What to know: Horizon got a much needed dose of confidence last week in a 42-0 victory over Hearts Academy. James Kimbrough rushed for 110 yards and two touchdowns, Travis Pittman ran for 95 yards and a touchdown and John Michael Booth had 64 yards and two touchdowns as the Warriors rushed for 370 yards as a team. Horizon’s defense, meanwhile, held Hearts to just 102 total yards of offense and forced three interceptions by Booth, Ty Logan and Michael Walker, who returned his 60 yards for a touchdown. It was just what the Warriors needed after a 0-2 start to the season a year after going winless.

Unity should provide Horizon with a tougher challenge than Hearts. The Lions are coming off a 28-24 victory over New Creation in which Unity built a 28-7 lead but had to hold on late for the win. Senior running back/linebacker Joshua Trapp scored a touchdown and caught a touchdown pass from sophomore quarterback Cameron Atkinson, while Luke Fuller scored on touchdown runs of 6 and 33 yards behind an offensive line led by senior Will Littlefield. It was a big win for the Lions under first-year head coach Mark Ackerman.
