Due to the expected snow storm, the Georgia High School Association has pushed back the start of the 2014 GHSA Basketball State Tournament to Wednesday, Feb. 19 for girls and Thursday, Feb. 20 for boys.

This revision will allow areas affected by the inclement weather ample time to finish region tournaments.

With this amendment, region tournaments can now be completed as late as Monday, Feb. 17. Additionally, regions will have the option to schedule teams two games in a single day with at least a four-hour break in between contests.

Forsyth schools were scheduled to announce by 5 p.m., where to hold school Tuesday, according to the school system, which would impact the start of the Region 6-AAAAAA basketball tournament.

Local coaches were discussing contingency plans Monday afternoon should schools be closed this week. No official changes had been made.
