If the GHSA Gymnastics Preliminary Meet is any indication, Forsyth County could dominate the state meet later this week.

Lambert and West Forsyth finished first and second, respectively, out of 17 teams, ahead of third-place Buford, the defending state champion, while all four county teams will be represented at this Friday’s GHSA Gymnastics State Championships at Ola High School.

The Longhorns and Wolverines made the most noise with their 1-2 finish. Lambert had 112.575 points, and West had 111.75, while Buford finished with 110.4 points. The Wolves have won the last three state championships since Lambert won it in 2013.

The difference between Lambert and West came on the bars. Wolverines sophomore Sienna Schreiber scored a perfect 10 in the event, but Lambert had three state-qualifying scorers in Brianna Greenlow (third, 9.7), Maddy Lord (fourth, 9.625) and Alana Steinberg (tied-seventh, 9.5).

Schreiber still had a standout performance. On top of her win in the bars, the Missouri commit tied for first in the vault and placed third in the beam, which Lambert’s Greenlow won with a 9.7.

Forsyth Central finished fifth with 106.525 points to earn the final team state qualifying spot, led by Lauren Gist’s seventh-place finish in the bars with a 9.5.

South Forsyth finished seventh with 104.975 points, just missing the last team state qualifying spot, but the War Eagles had Carson Nolan and Sarah Wilson qualify in individual events. Nolan qualified in the beam, while Wilson qualified in the beam and vault.
