Horizon Christian held on for a 7-4 win Friday over Covenant Christian on the road.

Daniel Meyers pitched five strong innings, while Jake Fussell came on in the sixth to close the win with two perfect innings with six strikeouts.

The Warriors (2-1) took the lead in the sixth inning. A two-run error scored Greg Carson and Dalton Smith and gave the Warriors the lead for good. Smith paced Horizon at the plate going 2-for-3 with two runs scored and an RBI.

The Warriors jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the top of the first. Horizon's threat began with a single by Jared Hamby. A few plays later, John Michael Booth scored on a passed ball. The Warriors then tacked on more runs when Culver Faass scored on an error.

After a quick strike from the Warriors, Covenant Christian responded with one run in the second.

The Warriors never surrendered the lead after the sixth inning. The runs piled on thanks to an RBI double by Smith and an RBI single by Booth.
