Myers, Staiti make all-state hoops team

South Forsyth sophomore Sarah Myers and West Forsyth sophomore Jenna Staiti earned first-team honors on the Georgia Sports Writers Associations all-state teams, which was released Saturday. Myers, the Forsyth County News’ 2013-14 Girls’ Player of the Year, averaged 20.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, 3.5 steals and 2.7 assists per game in leading the Lady War Eagles to a 27-6 record and the Class AAAAAA Final Four, marking the first time a Forsyth County girls’ basketball team reached the semifinals of the Georgia High School Association state tournament in 40 years. Staiti averaged 23 points, 16 rebounds and six blocks per game to help the Lady Wolverines go a school-best 17-11 and reach the Class AAAAAA state tournament where they lost in the first round.
