North Forsyth’s Dakota Chalmers and West Forsyth’s Alec Wilson will be two of 19 exclusive high school senior baseball players invited to the Braves 400 Fan Club’s Annual High School All-Star Luncheon, scheduled for June 2 at Turner Field’s 755 Club.
Atlanta Braves executive and Assistant Director for Player Development, Jonathan Schuerholz, will speak at the event, while the 2015 Player of the Year and Coach of the Year will be announced at the end of the luncheon, which begins at approximately 11:30 a.m.
Since the event began in 1974, the Braves have had dozens of selections advance to play at the major league level. Recent honorees of note include Brian McCann, Dexter Fowler and Zack Wheeler, as well as last year’s 26th overall pick Michael Chavis (Boston Red Sox).
Chalmers, a strong-armed right handed pitcher for the Raiders, is slated to head to the University of Georgia to continue his baseball career, but has received attention from pro scouts. Wilson, an outfielder for the Wolverines, has signed to play at Stanford.
Admission to the luncheon is by advance reservation only, with the deadline for purchase at midnight Thrusday, May 29. Standard admission is $30. Visit braves400.org for more details.
