Each Friday, the FCN sports staff will update who is in the running for football Offensive and Defensive Player of the Year based off the previous week’s results, presented by Nalley Roofing.

OFFENSE

1. Sabrian Howard, Forsyth Central

Last week: The senior running back rushed for 214 yards and three touchdowns on 37 carries in the Bulldogs’ 31-20 win at Duluth.

Season: 76 car., 608 yards, 10TDs in three games.

2. Simon Holcomb, North Forsyth

Last week: The senior wide receiver had seven catches for 152 yards in the Raiders’ 35-31 win against Pickens County.

Season totals: 27 rec., 505 yards, 5TDs in four games.

3. Davis Shanley, South Forsyth

Last week: Off

Season totals: 43-for-74 passing, 721 yards, 7TDs, 2INT; 29 carries, 226 yards, 3TDs in four games.

4. Ben Bales, North Forsyth

Last week: The junior quarterback was 15-for-27 passing for 252 yards with one touchdown in the Raiders’ 35-31 win against Pickens County.

Season totals: 59-for-103 passing, 969 yards, 9TDs, 5INTs in four games.

5. Kiernen Hamilton, West Forsyth

Last week: The senior quarterback was 27-for-36 passing for 259 yards with two touchdowns and an interception in the Wolverines’ 31-14 victory at Dacula.

Season totals: 65-for-109 passing, 903 yards, 6TDs, 3INT in four games.

DEFENSE

1. Max Slott, South Forsyth

Last week: Off

Season totals: 43 tackles, 4 tackle for loss, 2 forced fumble, 2 fumble recoveries in four games.

2. Hunter Stephens, Forsyth Central

Last week: The senior defensive end had seven tackles, four tackles for loss and two sacks in the Bulldogs’ 31-20 win at Duluth.

Season totals: 25 tackles, 6 tackles for loss, 4 sacks and one pressure in three games.

3. Joey Congrove, West Forsyth

Last week: The senior defensive back had five tackles and one pass deflection in the Wolverines’ 31-14 win at Dacula.

Season totals: 23 tackles, six pass deflections, one tackle for loss, one INT for a TD and one forced fumbled in four games.

4. Griffin Hughes, North Forsyth

Last week: The senior defensive end had nine tackles, two sacks and one tackle for loss in the Raiders’ 35-31 win against Pickens County.

Season totals: 29 tackles, 4 tackles for loss, 3 sacks in four games.

5. Mac Redmond, Lambert

Last week: The senior linebacker had nine tackles and two pass deflections in the Longhorns’ 35-28 loss at Lanier.

Season totals: 24 tackles, 3 1/2 tackles for loss, 2 pass deflections, 1 1/5 sacks in four games.
