POY WATCH: Howard, Slott take over top spots

Each Friday, the FCN sports staff will update who is in the running for football Offensive and Defensive Player of the Year based off the previous week’s results, presented by Nalley Roofing.

OFFENSE

1. Sabrian Howard, Forsyth Central

Last week: The senior running back rushed for 212 yards and three touchdowns on 12 carries in a 63-28 win against Meadowcreek.

Season: 39 car., 392 yards, 7TDs in two games.

2. Simon Holcomb, North Forsyth

Last week: Off

Season totals: 20 rec., 342 yards, 5TDs in three games.

3. Davis Shanley, South Forsyth

Last week: The senior quarterback was 8-for-9 passing for 162 yards and two touchdowns and rushed for 129 yards and three touchdowns on 10 carries in a 39-20 win against South Gwinnett.

Season totals: 43-for-74 passing, 721 yards, 7TDs, 2INT; 29 carries, 226 yards, 3TDs in four games.

4. Ben Bales, North Forsyth

Last week: Off.

Season totals: 43-for-75 passing, 706 yards, 8TDs, 5INTs in three games.

5. Kiernen Hamilton, West Forsyth

Last week: The senior quarterback was 14-for-25 passing fo 281 yards with two touchdowns and an interception in a 56-35 win against Hillgrove.

Season totals: 38-for-73 passing, 644 yards, 4TDs, 2INT in three games.

DEFENSE

1. Max Slott, South Forsyth

Last week: The senior linebacker had 11 tackles, three tackles for loss and one pressure in a 39-20 win against South Gwinnett.

Season totals: 43 tackles, 4 tackle for loss, 2 forced fumble, 2 fumble recoveries in four games.

2. Joey Congrove, West Forsyth

Last week: The senior defensive back had nine tackles, two pass deflections and one tackle for loss in a 56-35 win against Hillgrove.

Season totals: 18 tackles, five pass deflections, one tackle for loss, one INT for a TD and one forced fumbled in three games.

3. Hunter Stephens, Forsyth Central

Last week: The senior defensive end had 10 tackles, two tackles for loss and one pressure in a 63-28 win against Meadowcreek.

Season totals: 18 tackles, 2 tackles for loss, 2 sacks and one pressure in two games.

4. Mac Redmond, Lambert

Last week: The senior linebacker had four tackles in a 50-36 loss to Cherokee.

5. Eli Huggins, West Forsyth

Last week: The senior defensive end had one tackle and two pressures in a 56-35 win against Hillgrove.
