The bats of Michael Branigan and Dee Kelly and the arm of Reed Clark led Forsyth Central baseball to an 8-3 win over Cambridge on Tuesday in a Region 7-AAAAA game on the road.

The Bulldogs improved to 3-4 overall and 1-0 in the region.

Branigan went 2-for-4 with a home run and four RBIs for Central, while Kelly went 3-for-5 with three RBIs. Josh Meese also had three hits.

Clark got the win after allowing no earned runs and striking out nine in six strong innings.

Lambert 11, North Cobb 3: The Longhorns cruised to a non-region win Tuesday on the road.

Lambert improved to 6-0.

Seth Beer led the way for the Longhorns at the plate and on the mound going 2-for-2 with a double, home run and three RBIs while allowing four hits, three unearned runs and striking out five in three innings to earn the win.

Jeremy Johnson went 3-for-4 with three runs scored and three stolen bases. Kyle McCann went 2-for-3 with a double and RBI, while Jake Chickowski was 1-for-2 with two RBIs. Tucker Maxwell added a solo home run.

Dylan Biumi got the save with four scoreless innings. He allowed just two hits, one walk and struck out five.

Mill Creek 6, South Forsyth 5: The War Eagles’ comeback bid fell short in a non-region loss Tuesday at home.

South fell to 2-3.

Down 6-1 at one point, the War Eagles cut Mill Creek’s lead to 6-5 and had runners on second and third with two outs in the bottom of the seventh but couldn’t get come through.

Alex Kliphouse led South on the mound allowing just on earned run in five innings. Jack Litras scored a run and hit a double, while Horbin Figueroa went 2-for-2 with a walk and run scored.


North Forsyth 8, GAC 7: The Lady Raiders edged Greater Atlanta Christian on Tuesday in a non-region game at home.

North improved to 2-1.

Rachel Hejduk led the Lady Raiders with five goals. Corrine Thompson added two goals and Annalise Vigilante added a goal.

Darrian Short had 10 saves.


Riverwood 7, Forsyth Central1: The Bulldogs dropped a Region 7-AAAAA game Tuesday on the road.

Central fell to 0-4 overall and 0-3 in the region.

Senior Grant Butschek scored the lone goal for the Bulldogs.

Mill Creek 1, South Forsyth 0: The War Eagles dropped a non-region game Tuesday at home.

South fell to 3-3.

The War Eagles couldn’t take down the No. 8-ranked Hawks.


Lambert 1, Roswell 0 (OT): Catie Colbert came through for the Lady Longhorns in an overtime win Tuesday in a non-region game on the road.

No. 9-ranked Lambert improved to 3-3.

Colbert scored just 20 seconds into the first overtime off an assist by Taylor Kemmeling, and the Longhorns defense of Casey Baker, Bailey Frederking, Jordyn Ebert, Riley Geran and Shannon Lilly held off Roswell’s comeback attempt for the final 9:40.

South Forsyth 3, Mill Creek 1: The Lady War Eagles helped coach Tom Braun get win No. 300 in his career with a non-region victory Tuesday at home.

No. 5-ranked South improved to 5-1.

Blakely McDonald led the way for the Lady War Eagles with two goals while Allie Norton also scored a goal.

Elena Zang had two assists and Alex Melnyk had one.


Pinecrest Academy 5, Kings Ridge 0: The Paladins cruised to a non-region win Tuesday at home.

Adam Rocko won 8-3 at No. 1 singles while Garret Witt and Cristobal Urzua won 8-0 at Nos. 2 and 3 singles, respectively.

Bart Cho and John Massengill added an 8-1 win at No. 1 doubles for Pinecrest (2-2).

West Forsyth 3, Centennial 2: The Wolverines remained perfect on the season with a Region 6-AAAAAA victory Tuesday.

West improved to 5-0 overall and 2-0 in the region.

The Wolverines got wins from Harrison Wood at No. 1 singles, Patrick Sklenka and No. 2 singles and Nico Szabo at No. 3 singles.

Johns Creek 3, Lambert 2: The Longhorns lost a highly competitive Region 6-AAAAAA match Tuesday.

Will Harper earned a 6-4, 7-5 win at No. 2 singles and Drew Lahey and Kevin Mayer won 3-6, 7-5, 6-3 at No. 1 doubles.

But Lambert pushed the Gladiators in its losses. Lincoln Metz lost at No. 1 singles in three sets 6-3, 2-6, 6-1. Eric DeVries lost at No. 3 singles 7-6, 6-2.


West Forsyth 5, Centennial 1: The Lady Wolverines continued their strong start to the season with a Region 6-AAAAAA victory on Tuesday.

West improved to 5-1 overall and 1-1 in the region.

Emma Niemi earned a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 1 singles, Caroline Connelly won 6-2, 6-1 at No. 2 singles and Tara Harper won 6-0, 6-3 at No. 3 singles.

Haley Anderson and Meg Moran won 6-4, 6-0 at No. 2 doubles, while Mackenzie Latta and Allie Lobo won at No. 2 doubles.

Pinecrest Academy 3, Kings Ridge 2: The Lady Paladins edged the Lady Knights in a non-region match Tuesday at home.

Despite dropping Nos. 1 and 2 singles, Pinecrest (2-2) got wins at No. 3 singles from Maggie Herd (8-4), No. 1 doubles from Julieta Flores and Catherine Ann Birozes (8-3) and No. 2 doubles from Kate Massengill and Natalie Parr (8-5).
