PREP ROUNDUP: Central wrestling wins Denmark Duals

Forsyth Central's varsity wrestling team won the Denmark Duals on Saturday, beating Riverwood, North Forsyth and Mountain View to cap a perfect day. Junior Avery Krippner wrestled at 170 for the Bulldogs and won all three decisions by fall. North took Central down to the wire, but the Bulldogs won 40-39 after the match came down to forfeits (2-1). 

North beat McIntosh 63-11, then dispatched North Cobb 54-24 before falling to Central. The Raiders finished fourth at the tournament after a 51-28 loss to Lowndes in the third-place match. 

Denmark finished 2-2 as the host team, beating Northview 54-23 and McIntosh 57-18 and falling to Allatoona 46-28 and Mountain View 58-22. Junior Ethan Culbreth and senior Arthur Marsden enjoyed 4-0 days.

Pinecrest places 2nd at Trojan Invitational

Pinecrest finished second at the North Hall Trojan Invitational on Saturday, with senior Joe Metz and junior Mark Metz winning first place individually for the Paladins. Sophomore Breckin Barbee placed second, while freshman Brock Barbee finished fourth. 

Lambert finishes 4th at McEachern Duals

Lambert picked up three wins Saturday at the McEachern: 45-25 against South Forsyth, 60-12 against Sprayberry and 57-24 against McEachern. The Longhorns dropped a 51-23 match to Collins Hill and 48-25 decision to Jackson County to finish fourth at the tournament. 

VARSITY BOYS BASKETBALL

North Forsyth 57, Dunwoody 47

North Forsyth won its fourth game in as many tries Saturday, topping Dunwoody 57-47. 

Senior Cory Seitz led the Raiders with 20 points and fellow senior Justin Costello added 16. 

North (4-0) will host Brookwood at 8:30 p.m. Monday in the Raider Classic.

South Forsyth 67, White County 49

South Forsyth scored a season-high 67 points Saturday in a blowout win at White County. 

The War Eagles were led in scoring by junior Devin McGlockton, who had 18 points and eight rebounds. Senior Thomas Stocks finished with 16 points, while senior Nate Hammond added 10 points, eight rebounds and six assists. Sophomore Ethan Underwood chipped in eight points, five assists and five rebounds. Junior Kohl Harris led the team with seven steals. 

South (3-1) will open the Gainesville Thanksgiving Classic on Monday with a 5:30 p.m. tip against Cherokee Bluff.

West Forsyth 73, Duluth 53

West Forsyth's red-hot offense kept rolling Saturday, landing three players in double digits during a 73-53 win against Duluth in the Gladiator Showcase at Johns Creek. 

Senior Joseph Staiti had a double-double, scoring 22 points and pulling down 12 boards for the Wolverines. Fellow senior Jack Bock finished with 12 points seven rebounds and three steals, while senior Nick Zabetakis scored 12 points and added four steals and three assists. Junior Broc Bidwell chipped in nine points, six assists and two steals, and senior Sterling Johnson had eight points, eight rebounds and two steals. 

The Wolverines (4-0) will play their second game of the tournament at 1 p.m. Friday against Collins Hill. 

VARSITY GIRLS BASKETBALL

North Forsyth 80, Morrow 19

North Forsyth pummeled Morrow on Saturday, 80-19, behind 17 made 3-pointers. 

Senior McCall Thomas had 12 points and sophomore Anna Gliatta added 10. North has scored 296 points this season, including 182 in the past two games.

The Raiders (3-1) are back in action at 7 p.m. Monday against Brookwood in the second round of the Raider Classic. 

South Forsyth 64, White County 62

Senior Sophie Rosin hit a critical 3-pointer with 5 seconds left in the game Saturday to lead South Forsyth past White County, 64-62.

The War Eagles (4-1) will play Cherokee Bluff at 4 p.m. Monday in the Gainesville High School Showcase.

West Forsyth 54, Peachtree Ridge 35

West Forsyth smothered Peachtree Ridge 54-35 Saturday to remain undefeated.

The Wolverines placed three players in double digits, led by sophomore Calie Thrower's 17 points. Sophomore Katie Taylor had 14 and senior Maggie Quincy added 12. 

West (5-0) will open the GA/SC Border Wars on Monday. 

Forsyth Central 79, Lakeside-DeKalb 54

Junior Aisha Dabo exploded for 33 points and 13 points for Forsyth Central on Saturday, as the Bulldogs raced past Lakeside-DeKalb 79-54.

Junior Elizabeth Pruitt added 14 points and sophomore Jillian Bretz chipped in 12. Central's 79 points is a season high, 10 points more than the Bulldogs' previous high of 69 points.

Central (4-1) will play Cherokee Bluff at 4 p.m. Tuesday in the Gainesville High School Showcase.
