PREP ROUNDUP: Denmark blows out Flowery Branch 88-38

Denmark remained perfect in region play Friday, topping Flowery Branch 88-38.

The Danes (9-2, 3-0 Region 7-4A) are back in action at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in a home tilt against West Hall.

Milton 78, Lambert 65

Lambert dropped its fifth game in six tries Friday, falling to Milton 78-65.

The Longhorns managed to keep pace with the Eagles through much of the first half, taking a 38-30 deficit into halftime, before Milton pulled away. Senior Collin Granger had 17 points for Lambert, chipping in six rebounds. 

Lambert (6-6, 0-2 Region 5-7A) will face Central (Macon) at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Norcross High School.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Lambert 54, Milton 32

Lambert pounded Milton on Friday, 54-32, as the Longhorns picked up their first region victory.

Freshman Briley Elder exploded for 32 points for the Longhorns, hitting on eight 3-pointers and converting 6 of 7 shots from the free-throw line.

Lambert (4-7, 1-1 Region 5-7A) will face Jackson County at 4:30 p.m. Dec. 27 in the North Gwinnett Invitational. 

WRESTLING

South Forsyth sends pair into semifinals at McCallie Invitational 

Senior AJ Riner (138) and junior Juan Cruz (113) are in the semifinals of the McCallie Invitational in Chattanooga, Tennessee. 

Riner pinned his opponent in the first round of the tournament, then advanced with a technical fall in the second round. Rowen Aragon, Sai Gudipati, Adrian Gutierrez, Andrew Meersman, Ethan Patrick and Cole Williams will wrestle in the consolation bracket on Saturday.

West Forsyth advances to championship pool

West Forsyth finished 3-0 on Friday in the first round of the Smokey Mountain Duals in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee.

The Wolverines will wrestle in the championship pool on Saturday.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Pinecrest Academy 33, Providence Christian Academy 8

Pinecrest handed Providence Christian Academy a lopsided loss Thursday night, as the Paladins picked up their second with of the season with a 33-8 win against the Storm.

Pinecrest freshman Colleen Sullivan scored more than half the team's points, finishing with 17 points.

The Paladins (2-6, 0-2 Region 6-1A Private) will continue region play at 3 p.m. Saturday at Walker.
