PREP ROUNDUP: Jordan leads West Forsyth softball over South

Angela Jordan’s RBI double was the difference for West Forsyth softball in a 1-0 victory over South Forsyth at home in a Region 6-AAAAAA game Tuesday.

Jordan went 1-for-2 for the Lady Wolverines (5-4, 3-1), her game-winning double scoring Bailey Concatto who was 1-for-2.

Lauren Bearden pitched a complete-game shutout to earn the win.

Lambert 9, Chattahoochee 1: Savannah Huffstetler hit a three-run home run to lead the Lady Longhorns to a Region 6-AAAAAA victory at home.

Sydnie Smith added two RBIs for Lambert (9-1), while Jenny Barto had two hits.

Lambert pitcher Megan Walz earned the win.

North Forsyth 12, Centennial 0: Morgan Franklin drove in three runs to lead the Lady Raiders to a Region 6-AAAAAA victory in four innings at home.

Franklin went 1-for-1 with a double and three RBIs for North, which has won eight of its last nine games after an 0-4 start.

Ashley Mangum added two RBIs, while Sydney Turner, Bailey Rivers and Angelina Coleman each drove in a run.

Lea Ann Porter pitched a complete game to earn the win. Porter allowed just one hit and one walk and struck out one in four innings.


Pinecrest sweeps pair: The Lady Paladins earned wins against Mt. Pisgah (25-16, 25-6) and Galloway (25-20, 25-11) at home.

Pinecrest senior libero Amanda Boyd led the team with good passing, according to coach Meg Bohn.

Forsyth Central splits: The Lady Bulldogs defeated Sprayberry (25-14, 25-15) and lost to Pope (25-16, 25-16) in a pair of Area 7-AAAAA matches at the road.


Forsyth Central sophomore Max Warner placed fifth in 18 minutes 12 seconds at the Chestatee War Eagle Invitational to lead the Bulldogs to second in the team standings.

The Bulldogs finished with 101 points behind host and winner Chestatee (70). North Forsyth boys finished fourth with 145 points.

Central also got strong performances from Will Scott (19:37), Cole Gizelbach and Will Hasse (20:02), Wesley Bacastow (20:22) and Joe Rank (20:43). 

Lady Bulldogs’ Bonnie McKinnon finished 13th overall in the girls race in 23:56.
