PREP ROUNDUP: Lambert boys, girls soccer teams finish undefeated region runs; Pinecrest baseball wins region tourney opener

Pinecrest Academy 5, Mount Paran 2

The Paladins moved to 14-8 on the season with a win in the first game of their region tournament on Monday, in which they scored three runs in the top of the eighth to claim the win. 

Patrick O’Rourke threw all eight innings for the win for Pinecrest, allowing two runs on nine hits and three strikeouts and throwing just 93 pitches. Mason Carter led the Paladins on offense with two hits and two RBIs out of the five-hole. 

Milton 6, South Forsyth 1

The War Eagles dropped to 3-10 in region play, putting them a game from being eliminated from postseason contention, with a loss on Monday. South had the game tied at 1-1 through four innings, but the Eagles put up two runs in the fifth and three in the sixth to put the contest away. Milton wound up out-hitting South 13-2, with four Eagles hitters recording multiple hits.


Lambert 4, West Forsyth 0

The Longhorns completed their undefeated run through Region 5-7A on Monday night, blanking the Wolverines for the second time. Madison Haugen had two goals for Lambert, and Faith Ferrer and Katelyn Castelli each added a tally. 

Lambert, the No. 1 seed out of Region 5-7A, will face South Gwinnett on April 23 in the first round of the state playoffs. West, which claimed the No. 2 seed, will host Grayson the same night.


Lambert 3, West Forsyth 1

Lambert finished 10-0 in region play with its win over West on Monday, with Nick Alliston, Jay Patterson and Kyler Darsey scoring for the Longhorns. Lambert will host Rockdale County at home on April 24 in the first round of the state playoffs. West finished the region schedule winless and will close out the season on Thursday against Denmark.


Denmark 16, Pinecrest Academy 6

The Danes improved to 6-8 on the season with their win over the Paladins on Monday, while Pinecrest fell to 2-10.


Lambert 16, Creekview 3

The Longhorns improved to 14-0 on the season and 5-0 in area play with an easy road win on Monday night. Lambert closes out its area schedule on Friday at home against Sequoyah.

West Forsyth 11, Forsyth Central 8

The Wolverines won their sixth straight game on Monday, improving to 10-5 on the season while the Bulldogs fell to 9-5. Tristan Bowers and Dylan Hollenbeck each had two goals for West.


The Lambert girls won the Girls High School Stableford Classic at Horseshoe Bend Country Club in Roswell on Monday, winning with 154 points to Johns Creek’s 152. Rachel Burrell led the Longhorns with 51 points – the Stableford system awards points for lower scores on each hole – while Averi Cline had 50 for Lambert.


West Forsyth finished second at the Michael Diem Invitational at Crystal Falls Golf Club in Dawsonville on Monday with a team score of 286, a school record. Peyton Balent set another school record for the Wolverines with a round of 66, with 13 pars, four birdies and one eagle.
