Forsyth Central 11, North Atlanta 3

ATLANTA – Hunter Joyner and Luke Sutko had two hits and two RBI each as the Bulldogs won their Region 7-AAAAA, Div. B series opener Monday on the road.

Parker Morrison got the win for Central (12-3, 9-1), allowing one earned run while striking out five.

Pierce Nufer had a double and two RBI, while Parker Biederer had two hits.

Lambert 12, Chattahoochee 2

Griffin Jarrett was 3-for-3 with a double and two home runs as the Longhorns cruised to a Region 6-AAAAAA victory Monday at home.

Cole Varner got the win for Lambert (12-4, 9-1), allowing two earned runs on one walk and five hits while striking out six in five innings. Johnathan Oakes pitched a scoreless inning of relief.

Daniel Mickelson added three RBI, Parker Scruggs went 1-for-2 with an RBI, Josh McAllister was 2-for-4 and Sam Fleming and Michael Raiano each had a hit.

Alpharetta 2, West Forsyth 1

Mason McWhorter’s first-inning home run wasn’t enough as the Wolverines dropped a Region 6-AAAAAA game Monday in eight innings at home.

Tanner Chaffin took the loss for West (9-7, 7-3) in relief of starter Bryar Hawkins, who allowed on run over seven innings while striking out 10.

Hawkins added two hits at the plate.


Lambert repeats as AAC champions

ATLANTA – Brett Barron shot a team-best 2-under 70 to tie for the individual lead and help the Longhorns capture the 2016 Atlanta Athletic Club Championship for the second straight season on Monday.

West places in Michael Diem Invitational

Austin Jaynes scored a team-best 35 points to lead the Wolverines to a fourth-place finish in the Michael Diem Invitational hosted by South Forsyth on Monday at Crystal Falls Golf Club.

Austin Amburgy had 34 points for West, while Drew Ridings had 33 and Connor Pollman had 32.


Buford 22, North Forsyth 13

BUFORD – Chase Chapman had four goals and two assists but it wasn’t enough as the Raiders dropped a non-area game Monday on the road.

Colton Rudd added two goals and three assists for North (6-7, 0-5 3-AAAAAA). Evan Smith had two goals and an assist, Mason Jolly scored two goals, Tucker Brady and Sam Grogan each had a goal and an assist and Tucker Davis added a goal.

Jacob Day had 12 saves in goal, while Shaun Herock won 50 percent of his faceoffs.


West Forsyth 15, Harrison 14

Sarah Grady had seven goals and two assists as the Lady Wolverines earned a non-area win against a top-10 opponent Saturday at home.

Madison Mueller added five goals and two assists for West (9-1, 3-1 3-AAAAAA).

Kelly Guthrie also had three goals.
