PREP ROUNDUP: Lambert boys lacrosse keeps its perfect season alive; Denmark, Pinecrest baseball earn decisive region wins

BASEBALL

Denmark 11, White County 1

The Danes earned their third Region 7-4A win of the season on Friday against White County. Denmark scored eight runs over the game’s first two innings, and after securing a 10-run lead in the fifth, the game was called early. Jack Kream, Matthew Cassandra, Gray Wilson and Jack Whitlock each had two RBIs, with Kream going 3-for-4 with a run scored. Cassandra pitched all five innings for the Danes, striking out four and allowing four hits. Denmark is now 10-15 overall and 3-6 in region play.

Pinecrest Academy 15, Mt. Bethel 1

Pinecrest easily dispatched the Eagles on Friday night, scoring nine runs in the fourth inning to come away with a run rule-shortened win. Mason Carter led the Paladins at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three triples, five RBIs and two runs scored. Will Howell struck out five with over his five innings of work. Pinecrest improves to 13-8 overall and 11-3 in its region.

Milton 13, West Forsyth 0

Lack of offense and four errors doomed West Forsyth's chances against Milton on Friday night, with the Eagles taking the victory after just five innings. Milton scored 10 runs in the game's first three frames. Luke Cartenuto and James Spota accounted for the Wolverines' two hits. With the loss, West fell to 8-15 overall and 2-10 in Region 5-7A play.

GIRLS SOCCER

Pinecrest Academy 1, Hebron Christian 0

A goal from Ivey Crain was the difference for the Paladins against the Lions on Thursday night. The victory secured a state playoff spot for Pinecrest, who improved to 12-3 overall.

Milton 2, South Forsyth 1

The War Eagles took a one-goal lead in the first half against Milton on Friday night, but after falling behind, they couldn’t score the equalizer before the end of regulation.

BOYS SOCCER

Pinecrest Academy 2, Hebron Christian 0

The Paladins improved to 10-4-1 and 5-2 in their region with their win over Hebron on Thursday night.

Milton 1, South Forsyth 0

The War Eagles fell to 6-6-1 and 5-5 in Region 5-7A with their Friday night loss to the Eagles, who scored a goal with 27 minutes left in the second half to secure the victory.

GIRLS LACROSSE

Sequoyah 13, Forsyth Central 12

The Bulldogs fell just short against the Chiefs on Thursday night and fell to 5-7 overall.

Buford 18, Pinecrest Academy 7

The Paladins took their ninth loss of the season against the Wolves on Thursday.

Denmark 12, North Oconee 10

The Danes earned a win against the Titans on Thursday, improving their overall record to 5-8 overall.

Pinecrest 17, Mount Pisgah 11

The Paladins earned their first win of 2019 on Friday night against the Patriots, with Ella Binkley scoring the 100th goal of her high school career.

Johns Creek 15, West Forsyth 8

The Wolverines fell to 8-5-2 overall on Friday night with their loss to the Gladiators.

BOYS LACROSSE

Forsyth Central 9, Sequoyah 6

Central’s boys defeated Sequoyah on Thursday night, improving their overall record to 9-4 on the season.

Creekview 16, North Forsyth 11

The Raiders fell to the Grizzlies on Thursday, dropping to 7-8 overall with the loss. Anthony Herock scored three goals for North, while Connor Hilly and Jaiden Prosser scored two each.

Lambert 11, Westminster 9

The Longhorns kept their perfect season alive after a close win over a very good Westminster team on Friday night.

South Forsyth 17, Mountain View 11

South improved to 11-4 on the year with their Friday victory over the Bears.

Pinecrest 14, Benedictine 12

The Paladins defeated their visitors from Savannah on Friday night to improve their season mark to 8-5 overall.
