PREP ROUNDUP: Lambert boys win in overtime; Denmark boys scorch Falcons

The Lambert boys basketball team improved to 10-1 on the season and 2-0 in Region 5-7A play on Friday with a 71-66 win over Milton in overtime. Mitch Ganote led the Longhorns with 35 points, including four three-pointers. Braxton Beaty had 16 points for the Longhorns, and Colin Granger had 14. The Longhorns girls won as well, securing their first region victory by a 59-41 margin over the Eagles, improving to 4-6, 1-1. Ansley Dean and Kristen Knaack had 12 points each for the Longhorns, and Jenny McKenna had 11.


The Denmark boys pulled off a dominant win over Flowery Branch on Friday, with four different players scoring in double digits. Sutton Smith led the Danes with 17 points and eight assists, while Trevor Bryk had a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds. Ze’Vian Capers had 13 points for Denmark, And Adonnis Easton-Tolbert had 10. The Danes improved to 7-3 and 2-1 in Region 7-4A with the victory. The Danes girls (1-9, 0-3) fell 84-21 to the Falcons.
