BASEBALL

South Forsyth 6, North Forsyth 0

Brennan Vincent struck out seven in six shutout innings as South Forsyth ended its season on a high note with region and rivalry victory Friday at home.

Grant Gerberding had two of South’s six hits in the game. Kyle Becker, Landon Sims and Bradley Prince Jr. each had an RBI.

BOYS LACROSSE

South Forsyth 12, Woodstock 7

Andrew Lempner had four goals as the War Eagles earned a non-area victory Friday on the road.

Colton Rudd and Max Kane each scored three goals apiece for South, which pushed its school record for wins in a single season to 13.

GIRLS LACROSSE

Lambert 11, West Forsyth 4

Carlee Talty scored four goals as the Longhorns pulled away in the second half for a crucial Area 5-6/7A victory Friday at home.

The win gave Lambert (11-5, 4-2) its first in school history against rival West (6-9, 4-3).

But the win also moved the Longhorns into sole possession of fourth place in the area and in good position to secure a state playoff spot. Lambert can accomplish that as soon as this Tuesday should Cambridge (11-5, 6-0) defeat South Forsyth (9-7, 3-3).

GIRLS SOCCER

Forsyth Central 2, River Ridge 1

Callie Fagan had a goal and assist as the Bulldogs finished off their season with a non-region victory Friday at home.

Jenna Uldrich had the other goal for Central, while Hannah Hamilton had an assist.

Lambert 2, Cambridge 0

The Longhorns got goals from Maddie Eddleman and Brooke Schuyler in a non-region season finale victory Friday at home.

Katelyn Castelli and Madison Haugen had assists for Lambert (15-3), while Jordyn Ebert earned the shutout in goal.

Lambert returns to play Thursday in the first round of the Class 7A state playoffs against Norcross.

Pinecrest Academy 3, Athens Academy 1

Erin Houlihan had two goals as the Paladins finished their regular season with an impressive non-region victory Friday against a top 10 team.

Margaret Metz had the other goal for Pinecrest (10-8), while Sarah Brown had an assist.

The Paladins will open the Class 1A state playoffs Tuesday at Darlington. 

South Forsyth 2, Chattahoochee 0

The War Eagles earned a non-region victory Friday at home to finish out their regular season.

Meagan Postell and Reagan Smith scored for South (15-3), while Courtney O’Malley and Megan Wilson shared the shutout in goal.

The War Eagles will open the Class 7A state playoffs Thursday at home against Lakeside-DeKalb.

BOYS SOCCER

Pinecrest Academy 6, Athens Academy 1

Five players scored for the Paladins in a non-region victory Friday that finished up the regular season.

Pinecrest got goals from Sebastian Cordova, Matt Burnett, Gabe Villar and Joe Metz.

The Paladins will open play in the Class A state playoffs Tuesday at Darlington.

Chattahoochee 3, South Forsyth 1

Adrian Garcia scored the lone goal as the War Eagles dropped a non-region game Friday at home to close out the regular season.

South will open play in the Class 7A state playoffs Thursday

GIRLS TENNIS

Lambert 3, Camden County 0

The Longhorns cruised to a win in the second round of the Class 7A state playoffs Friday on the road.

Lambert advances to play the Etowah-Peachtree Ridge winner.

The Longhorns got wins from Taylor Despriet at No. 2 singles, Kennedy Lewis at No. 3 singles and Kate Dufresne and Jenna Eskew at No. 2 doubles.
