PREP ROUNDUP: Lance sisters lead West Forsyth volleyball to sweep

Chloe and Shelby Lance led West Forsyth volleyball to a sweep of North Forsyth and North Hall in a non-area tri-match at home on Tuesday.

The Lady Wolverines defeated North Forsyth, 25-21, 22-25, 25-19, and North Hall, 22-25, 25-23, 28-26, to improve to 4-0 on the season.

Chloe Lance had a team-high 14 kills to go along with six aces, while Shelby Lance had 13 kills. Caroline Frye added 12 kills, while Rebecca Boeh and Gabby Bachner each had eight kills.

Jordan Leitch had 42 assists and eight aces. Alyssa Robertson had a team-high 32 digs.

North Forsyth splits tri-match

The Lady Raiders defeated North Hall, 25-21, 17-25, 25-20, and lost to West Forsyth, 21-25, 25-22, 19-25, on the road in a non-area match on Tuesday to start the season 1-1.

Bri Gilbert led North with 19 kills, while freshman Maddie Bryant added nine kills. Carlee Praznik had 24 digs, Okwunne Ogbogu had nine blocks and freshman Marin Black had a team-high six aces.

South Forsyth 3, North Gwinnett 0

The Lady War Eagles swept their season opener against the Lady Bulldogs, 25-17, 25-23, 27-25, at home on Tuesday.

Senior Kalyn Edleman, freshman Avery Kline and sophomore Shea McNamara each had six kills, while senior Taylor Svehla added five kills.

Junior Courtney Darling had a team-high 16 assists, while senior Hannah Larson added 10 assists.


Lambert 12, Alpharetta 0

The Lady Longhorns got their season off to a strong start with a mercy-rule victory on the road Tuesday.

Sophomore pitcher Marissa Guimbarda led the way for Lambert (1-0), tossing four shutout innings while allowing just one hit and striking out five. Guimbarda also added three RBIs at the plate.

Senior Savannah Huffstetler led Lambert with three hits, while Katlin Holloway and Skylar Aledia each had two hits. Kassidy Krupit added three RBIs.

North Forsyth 9, Johns Creek 0

Courtney Walls made the most of his first varsity start leading the Lady Raiders to a Region 6-AAAAAA victory on the road Tuesday.

Walls allowed just three hits over five shutout innings to help North win its season-opener.

Freshman Haley Simpson had a three-run home run for the Lady Raiders.
