PREP ROUNDUP: Local volleyball teams take down top 10 teams

NORCROSS – Ashley Cruise had 25 kills and Lambert volleyball got wins against Dunwoody (25-20, 25-18) and Norcross (25-15, 25-23) in non-area matches Thursday on the road.

Kendal Barrett led Lambert (8-2) with 32 assists.

Madeline Bertz added 18 kills for the Lady Longhorns, while Jordyn Moellering had 20 digs.

Pinecrest Academy sweeps tri-match

Vanessa Fowler had 26 assists as the Lady Paladins defeated Creekview (27-25, 25-19) and Forsyth Central (25-15, 25-15) in non-area matches Thursday on the road.

Adeline Seiferth had 14 kills for Pinecrest (8-7), which got strong defense from Steffi Harrison and Josie Sorohan.

South Forsyth sweeps tri-match

MILTON – Amanda Nugent had 25 kills and the Lady War Eagles got wins against area opponent Alpharetta (25-17, 25-18) and non-area opponent Milton (25-20, 25-15).

Shea McNamara added 10 kills for South (9-3, 1-0), while Erin Yeatman had 39 digs.

West Forsyth sweeps tri-match

ROSWELL – Chloe Lance had 23 kills and the Lady Wolverines defeated River Ridge (20-25, 25-14, 25-21) and Roswell (25-22, 25-15) in non-area matches Thursday on the road.

Taylor Ashcraft had 11 kills, 18 digs and five aces for West (11-5). Jordan Leitch had 43 assists, nine digs and five aces, while Abbey Riggins added 16 digs and Hannah Owens had eight kills.


Forsyth Central 17, Riverwood 0

Gina Fishler struck out five in three shutout innings and the Lady Bulldogs cruised to a Region 7-AAAAA, Div. B victory Thursday at home.

Alexa Hull, Karah Straub and Morgan Watson each drove in two runs for Central (5-4, 3-1).

Lambert 9, Chattahoochee 2

The Lady Longhorns cruised to a Region 6-AAAAAA victory Thursday at home.

Lambert improved to 4-3 overall and 4-2 in the region.

South Forsyth 11, Northview 1

Jordyn Harris went 3-for-3 with a double, two triples and four RBI as the Lady War Eagles earned a Region 6-AAAAAA victory Thursday at home.

Katherine Huey got the win for South (7-0, 6-0), allowing just one run on two hits while striking out four in five innings.

Emily Harris and Bianca Mora each had two hits and drove in two runs. Jordin Englar added a two-run home run.
