North Forsyth 6, South Forsyth 5

Max Bening hit a game-winning 2-run single in the bottom of the seven to give the Raiders a crucial Region 6-AAAAAA victory Wednesday at home.

North improved to 10-8 overall and 4-3 in the region. South fell to 7-11 overall and 2-5 in the region.

The War Eagles scored three runs in the top of the seventh to take a 5-3 lead, but the Raiders responded with three runs of their own, punctuated by Bening’s walk off hit.

Matthew Heard led North at the plate, going 3-for-4. Harris Roberts and Zac Slaton both went 2-for-3, while Jacob Cherry allowed just five hits and one earned run over six strong innings.

South was led at the plate by Jack Litras and Anthony Trovato, who each went 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI. Horbin Figueroa had a double, and Justin Graczyk and Michael Strait added a hit each.

War Eagles starting pitcher Will Foy allowed three earned runs on nine hits in six innings.


Lambert 3.5, West Forsyth 2.5

The Longhorns defeated the Wolverines in a match play Wednesday at Laurel Springs Golf Club.

Lambert’s Spencer Ball, Jake Fendt and Tanner Casey won their matches, while Kevin Duffy halved his match.


West Forsyth 16, Kennesaw Mountain 9

Monica Martelli scored six goals and the Lady Wolverines used a strong first half to cruise Wednesday to a non-region victory on the road.

West improved to 8-3 overall. The Lady Wolverines are 3-0 in Area 3-AAAAAA.

Sarah Grady also had four goals and two assists for West. Channing Milford had two goals, and Erika Cross, Kelly Gutherie, Arielle Pagley and Conner Parker each score a goal.

Goalkeeper Kara Duclos had 10 saves.
