North Forsyth boys and girls finish third
JEFFERSON – Josh Schunk finished sixth in 19:46 while Nina Carter placed seventh in 24:40 to help the Raiders’ boys and girls teams place third, respectively, in the 12th Annual Mainstreet News Meet hosted by Jefferson High School on Thursday.
On the boys side, North finished with 85 points, behind only Pace Academy (28) and host Jefferson (61). The Lady Raiders’ 92 trailed only Hart County (40) and Pace (42).
North’s boys team got strong performances from Alex Peacock (11th, 20:20), Anthony Verdirame (15th, 20:51), Chandler McMinn (26th, 21:48) and Spencer Dooley (27th, 21:52), while the girls were led by Carter, Kylee Howlin (26:05), Caitlin Lemieux (29th, 27:55), Darion Eagen (30th, 28:21) and Hannah Barrow (31st, 28:33).
North Forsyth 9, Chattahoochee 3
Madelyn Oliver went 2-for-4 with a double and three RBI as the Lady Raiders cruised to a Region 6-AAAAAA victory Thursday at home.
Sara King got the win for North (16-5, 10-3), allowing three runs (none earned) on five hits in six innings while striking out four.
Haley Simpson also had a big day at the plate for the Lady Raiders going 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, four runs scored and an RBI.
Bella Caraciollo went 1-for-3 with three RBI.
South Forsyth 13, Centennial 0
Jordyn Harris and Bianca Mora hit home runs and the Lady War Eagles cruised to a Region 6-AAAAAA victory Thursday at home.
Lauren Baccari got the win on the mound for South (14-2, 11-0), allowing no runs on one hit in four innings while striking out eight. She also went 2-for-2 with an RBI at the plate.
Eight different Lady War Eagles players drove in runs, led by Jordyn Harris, Sofia Tapia and Emily Thompson, who each drove in two runs. Emily Harris (2-for-2), Mora, Katherine Huey and Plinck each drove in one run apiece.

North Forsyth sweeps tri-match
Maddie Bryant had 21 kills as the Lady Raiders defeated North Hall (25-21, 25-20) and rival West Forsyth (25-20, 25-17) on Thursday at home.
Maddie Palmer added seven kills and four blocks for North (15-12, 2-4 Area 6-AAAAAA), which celebrated Senior Night.
Seniors Copelenn McMahon and Kailey Salazar made their presence felt, with McMahon getting two kills and Salazar leading the team with 24 digs.
Pinecrest Academy sweeps tri-match
JEFFERSON – Vanessa Fowler had 25 assists and seven aces as the Lady Paladins defeated Jackson County (25-10, 25-6) and Madison County (25-15, 25-15) in non-area matches Thursday on the road.
Adeline Seiferth led Pinecrest with 13 kills to go along with four aces. Tessa Stubbs added eight kills and three blocks, while Caroline Clark had four kills and eight total blocks.
West Forsyth splits tri-match
Taylor Ashcraft had 17 kills and 28 digs as the Lady Wolverines defeated North Hall (25-18, 21-25, 25-9) and lost to North Forsyth (20-25, 17-25) on Thursday at North.
Jaz Berry led West (22-12, 5-2 Area 6-AAAAAA) in the tri-match with 19 kills, while Rachel Hart had a team-best 39 assists to go along with 14 digs.
Caroline Frye added nine kills, and Abbey Riggins added 16 digs.
