Parkview 7-13, North Forsyth 3-1

LILBURN – The Lady Raiders were swept in the first round of the Class 7A state playoffs Wednesday on the road.

Brookwood 1-0, West Forsyth 0-7

SNELLVILLE – Hannah Guthrie allowed just one run, none earned, to help the Lady Wolverines split the doubleheader in the first round of the Class 7A state playoffs Wednesday on the road.

West will play a deciding Game 3 on Thursday at 6 p.m.

Guthrie totaled nine strikeouts over 14 innings.

The Lady Wolverines lost the pitching duel in Game 1, producing just single hits from Lauren Crowe and Abbey Poe.

But West rebounded in Game 2. Baillee Martin had a home run and two RBI, while Alana Frye was 2-for-4 with an RBI. Gracie Martin was 2-for-2 with three runs scored and an RBI and Crowe added an RBI.

The Lady Wolverines are still searching for the program’s first state playoff series victory.

VOLLEYBALL

North Forsyth sweeps Hillgrove

POWDER SPRINGS – The Lady Raiders earned a 25-12, 25-17, 25-19 victory Wednesday on the road in the first round of the Class 7A state playoffs.

North advances to play North Gwinnett on Tuesday.

It was the Lady Raiders’ first state playoff victory since 2001, the only other state playoff appearance in program history.

South Forsyth cruises past Marietta

Amanda Nugent had 13 kills and seven aces as the Lady War Eagles earned a 25-10, 25-13, 25-13 win Wednesday at home in the first round of the Class 7A state playoffs.

South advanced to play Mountain View on Tuesday.

Shea McNamara added six kills for the Lady War Eagles, Avery Kline had six aces and Erin Yeatman had a team-high 12 digs.

A trio of setters got the job done for South, as Olivia Heiser and Nyah Pacely each had nine assists and Hannah McGlockton added eight.
