The Lambert volleyball team won two matches Thursday, 25-19, 25-13 over Mill Creek and 25-13, 25-6 over Parkview, running the Longhorns’ winning streak to 10 in a row and putting their overall record at 13-1.
Lael White and Bella Tolone both had strong days on the serve for the Longhorns, notching nine and eight aces, respectively. White also had 22 assists, and Tolone had 16 digs. Ally Hall led the Longhorns with 17 kills, and Claire Richey had 12 blocks.
The Longhorns open their area schedule on Aug. 28 against West Forsyth.
South Forsyth split a pair of matches on Thursday, losing 25-12, 25-22 to North Gwinnett and beating Johns Creek 25-22, 25-11.
Molly Bergin led the War Eagles with 13 kills on the day, and Phoebe Dean had 18 assists. Sam Macaluso had six aces in the win over the Gladiators. The War Eagles open their area schedule on Aug. 28 against North Forsyth.
West Forsyth lost two matches on Thursday, falling 25-11, 25-15 to Blessed Trinity and 25-23, 14-25, 19-25 to Fellowship Christian. The Wolverines open the area schedule on Aug. 28 at Lambert.
Forsyth Central lost at home on Thursday, falling to Lassiter 25-13, 25-18, 25-7. The Bulldogs begin their area schedule on Aug. 28 against Milton.
Pinecrest opened its match on Thursday against St. Francis by winning the first set 25-20, the Paladins’ first set win of the year, but lost the next two 16-25 to fall to 0-5 on the year.
Denmark fell on Thursday in a home matchup with Dunwoody, losing 25-9, 25-6, 25-4.
Denmark softball blows out Discovery
The Denmark softball team beat Discovery 15-2 on Thursday, combining for 13 hits as a team. Morgan Kilmer led the Danes with three, including a double, and Jessie DeNardo had two, including a home run. Brianna Vanderhoof and Jordan Platt also had two hits apiece. Taylor Gajdik threw four innings and had nine strikeouts for Denmark.
West Forsyth lost 6-2 to Milton on Thursday to begin the region schedule on an 0-2 slide. The Wolverines managed just four hits on the day, with Katelyn Cooper contributing two doubles.
The Wolverines played two more games on Friday, beating Hillgrove 11-3 and losing to Lowndes 8-3.
North Forsyth beat South Forsyth 8-6 on Thursday to rebound from a loss to Lambert in the region opener.
Makenna Segal had a massive day at the plate for South, hitting two home runs and contributing five RBIs, but the Lady Raiders’ were more productive as a team, combining for 12 hits, including a grand slam from Abby Martin and a three-hit day for Hailey Mize, who also got the complete-game win for the Raiders.
