PREP ROUNDUP: Pinecrest girls lax romps against Druid Hills in season opener


Lambert 4, Wayne County 3

Jack Fleming had two hits and drove in two runs as the Longhorns earned a non-region victory Friday.

Aidan McAllister got the win for Lambert (3-5), allowing three runs on seven hits while striking out eight in a complete game.

Ben Asher had two hits for the Longhorns, while Collin Price drove in a run.

North Forsyth 8, Gainesville 4

GAINESVILLE – Kyle Martin went 2-for-4 with two doubles and an RBI as the Raiders earned a non-region victory Friday on the road.

Anthony DiMola got the win for North (8-1), allowing four runs on five hits and three walks while striking out three in five innings. Caelan Thomas pitched two shutout innings of relief with two strikeouts.

Clayton Bardall went 3-for-4 with a double and RBI, Colin Sanders had two hits and an RBI, Preston Hedelius had two hits and Garrett Staton had a double and RBI with two runs scored.


Pinecrest Academy 22, Druid Hills 3

Alex Tilkin had six goals and three assists as the Paladins opened the season with a non-area victory Thursday on the road.

Molly Dankowski added four goals and six assists for Pinecrest (1-0), while Ella Binkley had four goals and three assists.


Lambert 14, Northview 3

Jonny DiVirgilio had four goals and two assists as the Longhorns cruised to a non-area victory Friday at home.

Kyle Lewis added three goals and two assists for the Longhorns (5-0, 2-0 Area 5-6/7A), while Benny O’Rourk had two goals and Christian Rhodes had a goal and two assists.

Phil White went a perfect 15-for-15 on faceoffs.

West Forsyth 9, South Forsyth 4

Chris Neal had four goals and two assists as the Wolverines earned an Area 5-6/7A victory Thursday on the road.

Tiernan Pepple added three goals for West (4-1, 3-0), who remained one of three teams still undefeated in area play with Cambridge (1-0) and Lambert (2-0).

Carson Smith made 16 saves in goal for the Wolverines and in the process dealt South (1-4, 0-1) its third straight loss, albeit against teams with a combined 12-2 record.


Walker 2, Pinecrest Academy 1

Allie Doerr scored the lone Paladins goal in a Region 5-1A loss Friday on the road.

Regina Metz had the assist for Pinecrest (1-5, 0-1).


Pinecrest Academy 2, Walker 1

Gabe Villar scored both Paladins goals, including the game-winner in overtime, in a Region 5-1A game Friday on the road.

Matt Stone assisted on Villar’s first goal for Pinecrest (4-2-1, 1-0).


Flowery Branch 3, West Forsyth 2

The Wolverines swept the doubles sports but it wasn’t enough in a non-region loss Friday.

Natalie Greeson and Alyssa Jane won at No. 1 doubles for West, while Nadia Duckett and Bri Lauidman won at No. 2 doubles.
