Pinecrest Academy 3, Eagle’s Landing Christian Academy 0

The Paladins replicated last season’s state playoff run by defeating the Chargers in the Class 1A-Private state quarterfinals on Wednesday.

Pinecrest went up in the first half off a goal by freshman Ivey Crain, and Crain put another in with 30 minutes remaining in the second half. Haley Triplett scored off a free kick with 18 minutes left in the game to cap off the Paladins’ scoring.

The Paladins will host Athens Academy in the state semifinals next Wednesday in a matchup of a game that Pinecrest lost at this stage of the competition in 2018.

Boys lacrosse

South Forsyth 18, Mountain View 4

The No. 2-seeded War Eagles won their first-ever state playoff game on Wednesday at home. South was in firm control of the action the whole way, leading 14-1 at halftime and 15-3 after the third quarter. The War Eagles are set to travel to Etowah next week for the second-round matchup.

Marist 14, Pinecrest Academy 4

The Paladins fell to the War Eagles on the road on Wednesday in their first-ever state playoff appearance. Pinecrest ended its season at 11-7.


Lambert girls, West boys win area titles

The Lambert girls and West boys golf teams won the Area 3-7A team golf titles, with the boys playing on Monday and the girls playing on Tuesday.

The Longhorns, playing at BridgeMill Athletic Club in Canton, won their 10th straight area title with a team score of 235. Iris Cao was the Longhorns’ top individual scorer, tying for second overall.

The Wolverines, playing at Echelon Golf Club in Alpharetta, finished with a team score of 3-5, one ahead of Walton and Cherokee. The Lambert boys shot 308 to finish fourth, and South’s Drew Shell was the low medalist for the event, shooting a 70.
