PREP ROUNDUP: Pinecrest soccer teams snag overtime and PK wins; Denmark baseball wins second region game

Denmark 7, Chestatee 3

The Danes earned their second Region 7-4A victory of the season against the War Eagles on Wednesday. Chestatee took a 1-0 with a sacrifice fly in the second, but in the fourth, Denmark connected on six consecutive hits, including a triple from Trevor Bryk, to take a 4-1 lead. The Danes held control of the game from there, scoring one run in the fifth on a Jack Whitlock single and two in the seventh on a sacrifice fly and a fielder’s choice. Whitlock finished his night 2-for-3 with two RBIs and threw a complete game on the mound, collecting four strikeouts.

Milton 8, North Forsyth 1

The Raiders allowed six runs in the first inning and couldn’t climb back in against the Eagles on Wednesday. North only connected for four hits, with Justice Bailey collecting the only RBI with a fourth inning single. The loss dropped North to third place in Region 5-7A with a 7-4 record.

Pinecrest Academy 15, Mt. Bethel 1

The Paladins took an easy win against the Eagles on Wednesday, scoring in every inning of a mercy-rule shortened four inning affair, including nine runs in the fourth. Mason Carter totaled five RBIs from his 3-for-4 performance, while Patrick O’Rourke brought in two. Will Howell struck out five over his four innings on the hill.


North Gwinnett 1, Lambert 1 (4-3 in penalty shootout)

The Longhorns took their first loss of the season at home against the Bulldogs on Tuesday, falling 4-3 in a penalty shootout after a scoreless overtime period. Lambert fell to 12-1-1 overall on the year.

Denmark 2, Northview 0

The Danes earned a Tuesday win against Northview to improve their overall mark to 4-10-1.

Pinecrest Academy 2, Wesleyan 2 (3-2 in penalties)

The Paladins prevailed in penalties on Tuesday, evening with the Wolves in the region standings with a 4-2 record. Pinecrest is now 9-4-1 overall.

Forsyth Central 3, North Forsyth 1

The Bulldogs improved to 6-3 in Region 5-7A with their Tuesday win over the Raiders. The win tied Central with Milton for the No. 2 spot in the region. North’s region record dropped to 1-8 with the loss.


Lambert 3, North Gwinnett 1

Lambert’s girls earned their 14th win of the season against the Bulldogs on Tuesday, keeping their overall record perfect at 14-0 with four games left in the regular season.

Pinecrest Academy 1, Wesleyan 0

Pinecrest’s girls knocked off Wesleyan on Wednesday with an overtime goal from Sofia Alvarez Del Pino and shutout performance in goal from Caroline Jeffcoat. The victory gave the Paladins control of their region and improved their overall record to 11-3 overall.


Mill Creek 17, South Forsyth 6

The War Eagles fell handily to the Hawks on Tuesday, dropping their overall record to 10-4.

Mountain View 14, North Forsyth 7

The Raiders fell to the Bears at home on Tuesday, falling to 7-7 overall. Chris Smith led North with five goals, while Jaiden Prosser and Connor Hilly added one apiece.

West Forsyth 9, Woodstock 5

West’s boys improved to 9-5 overall with their Wednesday victory over Woodstock.


Creekview 21, Denmark 7

Denmark fell to 4-8 overall with their blowout loss to the Grizzlies on Tuesday.

South Forsyth 10, North Forsyth 9

The War Eagles edged the Raiders on Wednesday to improve their area mark to 2-1. North fell to 0-5 in the area with the loss.

West Forsyth 22, North Gwinnett 6

The Wolverines defeated the Bulldogs soundly on Wednesday to improve their overall record to 8-4-2.
