PREP ROUNDUP: South baseball gets comeback win over Pickens

South Forsyth baseball came back against Pickens County for a 4-3 win on Wednesday in a non-region game at home.

Pickens led 3-1 before the War Eagles took the lead with a three-run fifth inning.

Nick Caprio earned the win by tossing 2 2/3 scoreless innings. Will Foy got the save.

Horbin Figueroa, Alec Kliphouse, Nate Schmal and Zach Sewing all had hits while Michael Strait drove in a run with a sacrifice fly to put South up 1-0 in the first.

Forsyth Central 2, Kell 0: Nik Verbeke was almost unhittable for the Bulldogs in their Region 7-AAAAA win Wednesday on the road.

Central improved to 4-4 overall and 2-0 in the region.

Verbeke tossed a complete game and allowed just one hit while striking out seven.

Michael Branigan and Dee Kelly each had two hits for the Bulldogs.


North Forsyth 3, West Hall 1: The Lady Raiders won their second straight Wednesday in a non-region game at home.

North improved to 3-2-1 overall. The Lady Raiders are 0-1 in Region 6-AAAAAA.

North spread the wealth around with Alex Chesna, Lochlain Corliss and Olivia Dumphy each scoring a goal.

Chesna also added an assist.

Sarah Dintino had two saves for the Lady Raiders while Isabella Higgins added one.
