PREP ROUNDUP: South, Pinecrest boys earn Friday basketball wins

BOYS

South Forsyth 65, Woodstock 44

The War Eagles took their seventh win of the year at home against the Wolverines on Friday. Thomas Stocks scored 17 points for South, draining five 3-pointers in the process. Devin McGlockton led the War Eagles with 19 points, seven rebounds and two blocks.

Pinecrest Academy 69, Mount Paran 47

The Paladins took their second region win of the season against No. 8 ranked Mount Paran on Friday night, with four players scoring in double figures. Calb Bohn led the way for Pinecrest with 18 points. Oscar Lynch added 11 poitns, while JJ Hayes totaled 12 points and eight rebounds. Tony Caprio finished with 10 points, six rebounds and three blocks.

Jefferson 72, North Forsyth 45

The Raiders fell to 4-3 overall with their Friday loss to the Dragons. Cory Seitz and Aidan Kudlas scored 14 and 12 for North, while Bennett Helms tacked on seven.

Archer 74, West Forsyth 67

West’s boys took their first loss of the year on the road against Archer on Friday, falling to 5-1 overall.

GIRLS

Denmark 51, Blessed Trinity 45

The Danes earned their first Region 7-4A victory of the wseason on Thursday night against the Titans, moving to 3-6 overall and 1-1 in region play. Sophie Smith led Denmark with 24 points, four steals, six rebounds, three assists and three blocks. Clarissa Kelly just missed out on a double-double, tallying 10 points, six steals and nine rebounds.

North Forsyth 53, Jefferson 41

North’s girls moved to 6-1 overall with their road win against the Dragons on Friday. Caroline Martin led the Raiders with 19 points, while Anna Gliatta and Lilly Bales added 11 and six points, respectively.

West Forsyth 53, Archer 49

The Wolverines improved their undefeated record to 8-0 with their road win over the Tigers on Friday night. Calie Thrower and Cayla Cowart each scored in double digits for the Wolverines, with 16 and 13 points, respectively. Kassidy Kimbro totaled nine.

Woodstock 74, South Forsyth 46

South took just its second loss of the season on Friday against Woodstock, falling to 8-2 on the season.

Mount Paran 78, Pinecrest Academy 24

The Paladins fell to 1-5 overall with their home loss to the Eagles on Friday night.
