Cartersville 4, West Forsyth 3

The Wolverines ended their regular season with a non-region loss Monday, but the venue made up for it – Turner Field.

In a tune-up before the state playoffs Friday, West (16-10) played an afternoon game at the home of the Atlanta Braves. The Wolverines used seven different pitchers in a scrimmage-style format.

West returns to action when it plays a doubleheader at Parkview in the first round of the Class AAAAAA tournament Friday at 4 p.m., with the second game to follow 30 minutes after the conclusion of the first one.

BOYS GOLF

Lambert 2nd, West fifth at Wolverine Invitational

Tanner Casey shot a 75 to lead the Longhorns to a second place finish at the West Forsyth Wolverine Invitational on Monday at Echelon Golf Club.

The Longhorns shot a 308, just behind Milton (304).

Johns Creek (310), Marist (317) and West Forsyth (319) rounded out the top five. Pinecrest Academy shot a 350 to finish ninth.

Casey’s 75 was good for sixth individually, but teammates Kevin Duffy (77), Spencer Ball (77) and Jake Fendt (79) weren’t far behind.

West’s Robert Shaw won low medalist with a 1-under 71, while Dru Adams shot a 79, Drew Ridings 83 and Mason Jones an 86.

Daniel Dreyovich shot an 85 to lead Pinecrest. Jess Hill shot 87, Thomas Hardy shot 88 and Anthony Boudreaux shot 90.
