PREP ROUNDUP: Whitlach powers Lambert softball to region win

Megan Whitlach was unstoppable at the plate for Lambert in a 19-0 victory in four innings over Chattahoochee on Thursday in a Region 6-AAAAAA game.

Whitlach went 4-for-4 with three home runs and seven RBIs.

Lambert (23-2) put the game away with a 13-run top of the fourth inning.

Savannah Huffstetler was 2-for-3 with a double, home run and four RBIs, while Macy Stovall went 3-for-4 with a double and three RBIs and Maddie Butz was 3-for-3 with a triple and two RBIs.

Jenny Barto, Rachel Ross, Zoe Miller and Marissa Guimbarda each added an RBI.

West Forsyth 11, South Forsyth 7: The Lady Wolverines got a big Region 6-AAAAAA victory on the road.

Caitlin Parks led West going 4-for-4 with an RBI.

Peyton Erb was 2-for-3 with a double, two walks, two runs scored and two RBIs. Erica Davis went 2-for-4 with a triple and three RBIs. Angela Jordan went 1-for-3 with a walk, two runs scored and a RBI.

Lauren Bearden earned the win.

North Forsyth 9, Centennial 1: Andrea Coleman and Sara King combined to throw a five-innings no-hitter in a Region 6-AAAAAA game on the road.

Coleman (3 IP) and King (2 IP) combined to allow one unearned run on three walks while striking out six.

Jenna Zirlott led the Lady Raiders at the plate going 2-for-3 with a double, stolen base and two RBIs. Breena Gwaltney had a triple and two RBIs, Morgan Franklin was 1-for-2 with an RBI and Brook Wade added two hits.

Pope 2, Forsyth Central 1: The Lady Bulldogs wasted a strong pitching performance by Caroline Thomas in a Region 7-AAAAA loss on the road.

Thomas allowed just two earned runs while walking none and striking out one for Central.

Rachel Karlan (1-for-3) and Lexi Bump (1-for-3) had the only hits for the Lady Bulldogs.


West splits: The Lady Wolverines split a non-area tri-match at North Hall.

West defeated Heritage-Conyers 27-25, 25-7 and lost to North Hall 25-21, 25-22.

Shelby Lance led the Lady Wolverines (16-19) with 15 kills. Rebecca Boeh had six kills and Savannah Butler added five kills.

Jordan Leitch had a team-high 20 assists, while Gabby Bachner added 16 assists.

Alyssa Robertson (16) and Chloe Tyler (12) led the team in digs.
